Celebration of International Women's Day in Belfast with a march from Writers' Square to City Hall
In celebration of approaching International Women's Day, hundreds of people gathered in Writers’ Square and marched to City Hall in Belfast, Northern Ireland on Saturday 4 March.
Outside City Hall they listened to speakers at the event, which was held a few days ahead of International Women's Day itself, which is on 8 March.
The theme for the day was "Stand up - Fight back."
The rally was organised by Reclaim the Agenda.
The video shows people gathering in Writers' Square, moving onto Donegall Street, along Royal Avenue and Donegal Place to City Hall.
Participants included Northern Ireland Public Service Alliance (NIPSA), Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Reclaim the Agenda, Windsor Women's Centre, Ballybean Women's Centre, Footprints Women's Centre, Women’s Aid, Faith Voices, Black and Minority Ethnic Women’s Network, Youth Action, Green Party, Women’s Tec, Communication Workers Union (CWU) among others.
In Belfast, International Women's Day is marked by a variety of events, including rallies, marches, and discussions.
These events aim to bring attention to the issues facing women in Northern Ireland and to celebrate the achievements of women from all walks of life.
