Air pollution in parts of Thailand has reached very unhealthy levels
As the sun begins to set in the west of Chiang Mai, Thailand on March 6, the footage shows how the Doi Suthep mountain is barely visible. The full moon in the east is seen as orange because of air pollution.
At the time of filming the Air Quality Index (AQI) ranged from 150 t0 227 PM 2.5 particles across the city, indicating unhealthy to very unhealthy air.
The WHO guideline is 35 for PM 2.5 particles. Thirty-six provinces exceed the Thai government's safe figure of 50.
People have been advised to avoid exertion.
