Tree catches fire when lightning strikes in park in China
A tree caught fire when lightning struck in a park in China.
Footage of the rare event was captured in the city of Nanping, Fujian province, on April 18.
The video shows the night sky during a thunderstorm when suddenly it was unexpectedly illuminated by a huge lightning bolt.
As the lightning struck, students from a nearby campus can be heard screaming in awe as the bolt causes the tree to burst into flames.
Strong winds whipped up the flames that quickly engulfed the area around the tree.
Student Xiao Zheng said the spectacular strike was around 1,500 ft away.
Fortunately, the strong torrential downpour put out the fire.
