A woman has shocked social media, revealing her genius way to scare away spam callers for good.

Voiceover artist, Kat Carter has perfected many voices and accents over the years and is now putting her skills to good use.

Adopting the voice of a robot, the 34-year-old revels in tricking scammers, sharing the hilarious results with her 48,800 TikTok followers (@the_radio_nerd).

With one video gathering 4.9m views, Kat has astounded viewers, many flooding to comment on how they deal with the irritating calls.

“I've been receiving these scam calls for the last few years, I changed my number after Covid hit and started receiving a ton of questionable calls,” Kat said.

“I had a lot of strange men calling and yelling at me looking for whoever used to have my phone number.

“A lot of people were looking for money or asking for bank details for banks I'd never even heard of.

“I've luckily gotten myself off a lot of these lists but every once in a while, another call comes in.”

When Kat received another spam call last week, she happened to be in her studio recording for a client, deciding to tackle the call in her ‘voice’ character.

The Canadian from Toronto added: “I figured, why not try out the voice to see if they think I'm a machine? Tricking them! And it worked!

“I felt like I was in middle school at a sleepover making prank calls with my girlfriends again.

“I haven't received any other scam calls since then, but I've been waiting patiently by my phone to mess with them again.”

Kat shared the video on her TikTok, gathering over 486,000 likes and thousands of comments.

Pamela commented: “The caller was too stunned to speak.”

“My mind is just not computing the face with the voice,” someone else said.

Melanie wrote: “I'm saving this to rehearse for my own use.”

Social media users have been left blown away by the trick and have shared their own ways to fight irritating calls.

“I never have time/patience, simple hang-up works like a charm,” added Markuka.

Someone else commented: “My toxic trait is I start yelling as soon as the automated voice starts talking.”

Another fan wrote: “Next time when you say goodbye switch to your normal voice to see if they do anything.”
