STORYLINE:

Since 1996, 15 batches of Chinese medical teams have come to Namibia, providing medical assistance including TCM treatment, such as acupuncture and cupping, to local people.

Salomo Angula, a 34-year-old man living in the informal settlement of Katutura in the capital, suffered from nerve damage after his head was struck by a brick.

"It is my fifth time coming here. I was assaulted with a brick by someone. My nerves were not working properly and they sent me here to the Chinese acupuncture department. I got the treatment of Chinese acupuncture. It is a nice treatment. It helps me very well. I recommend people to try it. It helps. I am feeling better."

SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): LI BANGWEI, Head of the Chinese medical team in Namibia
"After more than 20 years of joint efforts of Chinese medical workers, acupuncture and massage treatment has taken root in Namibia. If there is a demand for Chinese medicine, we will provide corresponding medical services."
