Adorable schoolchildren patted a big dog on the head as it stayed surprisingly calm.

Footage shows the cute youngsters wearing pink uniforms taking turns as they lightly held the brown pooch during recess in Ratchaburi province, Thailand, at the Banhat Jaosamran Mittrapap School on May 30.

The dog named Choke lives in the neighbourhood and would come to the school to share meals with the kids.

As Choke is kind and gentle, the teachers let him have a brief play with the students during their break time.

Teacher Yupin Chanphet said: ‘Choke teaches the children to be kind also to animals so we let them spend time together supervised.'

The teacher added Choke walks back home after the pupils are gone.

She said: ‘Choke seemed to understand the schedule and rules. He is a clever pet dog.'
