STORYLINE:
 
The China-built Peljesac Bridge has been in operation in Croatia for a year.
 
The 2.4-km-long bridge connects Croatia's mainland with the Peljesac Peninsula on the country's southern Adriatic coast. 
 
It was constructed by a Chinese consortium led by the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) and was largely funded by the European Union.
