This accident happened today at approximately 10:10 on Saturday 5/08/23.
In Bishops Stortford Hertfordshire.
The person screaming was already being given first aid by passing public.
It was a woman approximately in her mid Twenties to 30s.
She appears unhurt but suffering from shock . After being cornered behind chest freezers that had been pushed along the floor towards her. As the vehicle crashed into the shop front .
Driver was unharmed and was inside the shop trying to offer help.
Along with a passing traffic warden. There were at least two other inside trying to see if they could offer any assistance.
I myself entered the shop to see the devastation first hand .
Realising there was little I could do to assist as emergency service were being called by at least 3 people I witnessed.
My only explanation for what had happened is that the lorry had just come out of a small drive opposite and while trying to negotiate a tight turn drove straight into the shop front . As you can see from the video it straight on . Also the engine is still running. It may equally be possible it rolled down the drive as the drive opposite is on a steep slope.
The driver may have not even been in the vehicle at the time.
This may explain why he was inside the shop so quickly and the lorries engine was still on .
I can’t honestly say .
I left some 20 minutes after by which time All 1st responders were on scene.
I hopeful this is a useful clip with a back story from an eye witness.
