The first major film co-produced by film-makers in China and Pakistan will hit the big screen next week.

The film, "Ba'Tie Girl," which means the girl from ironclad-brotherly Pakistan, revolves around the friendship between a Chinese woman and a Pakistani teenage girl who both share a love for football.

The Chinese lady traveled from China to Pakistan to work as a translator at a China-built hydropower project providing cheap and clean electricity to Pakistan.

SOUNDBITE 1 (English): SYED JAMAL SHAH, Pakistani movie co-producer
"(Chinese filmmakers) they're very capable. They're very talented, very creative. We learn from each other. And it has been a very good collaboration. I'm looking forward to more. My own next film is also going to be a co-production with China."

SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): XIE PENG, Movie producer
"This movie touches upon the bond and mutual understanding between the people of Pakistan and China. It's also aimed at carrying forward the friendship between the two countries."

The co-production is seen as the first major step towards long-awaited Pakistan-China cooperation in the field of films and dramas, aimed at reviving Pakistan's film industry.

SOUNDBITE 3 (English): ZAFAR UDDIN MAHMOOD, Special assistant to Pakistani Prime Minister
"I have seen it and I'm really impressed. It's a very good effort one. I'm sure that there will be more movies to come, and I think our producers and the Chinese producers should enhance cooperation. That is need of the hour. I think we have so much to show in our country. This movie will convey a message about the Karot (hydropower) project, the area, the beauty, the natural beauty, and of course the innocent and peaceful life in our areas. So I think there should be more movies like that."
