This is the moment a rampaging buffalo 'zapped by an electric fence' broke out of its shed and tried to attack its owner in Thailand.

The bull named Yumyim, 4, went berserk when he received a shock from the electric wires in his enclosure on the farm in Uthai Thani on August 10.

Footage shows the out-of-control farm animal angrily smashing a piece of wood caught in its horns as owner Sudnaree Vaikasikum watched from a distance.

Sudnaree called her neighbours and the district livestock office to help drive the beast back into the shed.

Livestock official Thanakrit Ploysri later arrived at Sudnaree's home, where a restless Yumyim was staying with other buffaloes.

Lek Vaikasikum, Sudnaree's father, said the family had installed electric wires around the buffalo pen to keep them from roaming at night.

Thanakrit believes Yumyim's rampage may have been triggered by multiple shocks he received from the electrified fence.

Following the incident, Sudnaree said she is now trying to return Yumyim to his previous owner, a resort owner in the Ban Rai District.

She said the buffalo had been saved from being slaughtered and was being used for breeding.

She added Yumyim was supposed to stay with her for three years, but she has decided to return him early, fearing he might harm her family with his frequent rampages.

Sudnaree said: 'I don't want to take care of Yumyim anymore. I have already called his previous owner to discuss the matter. My family is not safe when he is here. I do not know when he will decide to go wild and attack us.'
