One fifth of the world's goods need to be transshipped through Singapore ports, making the congested Singapore Strait Channel a strategic hub and a bottleneck restricting global trade development. In recent years, Singapore Port has become the busiest port in the world, with over 250 shipping routes to and from around the world. Various ships from over 130 shipping companies from about 80 countries and regions enter and exit the port day and night, with an average of one ship entering and exiting every 12 minutes. Within a year, it is equivalent to all existing cargo ships in the world berthing in Singapore once, so Singapore is known as the "most utilized port in the world". Many ships came in a long line, like a string of seagulls or albatrosses.
