STORYLINE:

The International Motor Show Germany (IAA Mobility), one of the world's largest mobility trade fairs, officially opened in Munich on Tuesday with the most exhibitors from its host country of Germany and China.

According to the event's official website, China is the country with the most exhibitors at the IAA Mobility with some 70 companies following Germany.

Under the motto of "Experience Connected Mobility" of this year's event, Chinese car makers are rolling in more chances and choices for local partners and customers in Europe.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): LI YUNFEI, General Manager of BYD Branding & PR Division
"Our group has been considering establishing our first complete vehicle factory in Europe. We are also in the process of site selection. We will decide where to build the factory within this year."

China's EV battery maker Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. (CATL) presented a new lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery named "Shenxing," which allows "superfast charging capable of delivering 400 km of driving range with a 10-minute charge."

SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): GAO PENGFEI, Principal Engineer of CATL
"European auto companies are also keen to be more competitive. In the new energy sector, they may not be the fastest runners in technological advancements. So, they are happy to see that we offer them products like this. It's beneficial to both of us."

ZF Group, a hidden champion in the auto supply industry, has opened three plants and four R&D centers in China. It has been actively increasing its presence in China.

SOUNDBITE 3 (English): HOLGER KLEIN, CEO of ZF Group
"So China is for us a very interesting market, because it's very innovation-driven. And I guess this is based on two things. One is the average age of the customer is way younger than you see it in other established markets like here in Germany or in North America. The other thing is that the Chinese consumers are very open for innovation, and that makes it a very innovation-driven market. And that's why we enjoy very much to offer them latest innovation in China and to develop it with our Chinese colleagues together, because they are close to the market, they understand the customer needs. And that's how we drive innovation."
