A thrilling moment was caught on camera May 12 in Avon Park, Highlands County, Florida as snake expert David Orin finally captured a rare Florida Pinesnake. Orin, a trained professional, says he has spent "hundreds of hours" each year specifically targeting this elusive species, scientifically known as Pituophis melanoleucus. Endemic to the southeastern United States, the eastern pine snake is nonvenomous and part of the Colubridae family. "This is what peak excitement looks like," said Orin, emphasizing that the snake is harmless.
