A talented female snake catcher showed off her wrangling skills - taming a 10ft long python inside a family's home in Myanmar.

Footage shows Shwe Lei Ma, 30, walking inside the room before calming the slithering serpent down in Yangon on November 25.

Shwe Lei was called to the resident's home after they found the large snake entering the bedroom. She calmly captured the serpent before stuffing it into a sack to be released into the wild.

Shwe Lei said she has been catching snakes since she was a child - and it's all in a day's work for her in her job as a rescue worker in the Burmese city.

She said: ‘When I was younger, I would always be there to help the snakes return to their habitate if they had strayed out.'

The young snake wrangler catches an average of six snakes from families' homes every month.

Colleagues said the young woman ‘was born to catch snakes'.

Her teammate said: ‘She was born to catch snakes. Every now and then, residents come in to ask for he help when they come across strange visitors in their homes.'

She added that Shwe Lei is a nature lover and could form instant bond with the animals so she could catch them with minimal force.

She said: ‘There is a kind of bond between her and snakes. She is excited to catch the creatures but doesn't hurt them.'

The snakes she caught are kept at a temporary shelter built inside a local Budhdist monastery before they are released into the mountains.
