Woman who gets horrible migraines reveals incredible household trick to lessen pain in SECONDS
A woman who suffers from horrible migraines has shared an incredible household hack to lessen the pain in seconds – simply by eating a lemon.
Cass Cavanaugh was testing out foods to help with her headaches when she came up with the method in August this year.
The 21-year-old had tried sour candy in the past to help with anxiety, so thought there must be a similar, unique trick to tackle the migraines.
One night, while “desperate and panicked” by the intense throbbing in her head, she grabbed a lemon and took a bite – and was left mesmerised by the effect it had.
The student recently shared her hack on TikTok, (@lemongirl ), where the video has gathered 15.3 million views.
“When you get desperate enough with migraines, you'll try anything,” Cass, from Missouri, US, said.
“I have medication and other methods; sitting in the dark, cold compress, etc., but [on this occasion] none were working.
“So one night I just bit into a lemon hoping it might help and it did.
“Can't explain more than that, I just got desperate and panicked.
“But anyway, I like to call it a ‘lemon lobotomy’.
“It doesn't take away the aura but it distracts from the pain.
“I have to take an antacid after though, otherwise it gives me a killer tummy ache!”
Cass doesn't use the trick every time as the medication she has been prescribed usually helps.
But if she is struggling, she goes back to the lemons.
However, the student makes it clear this is only a “temporary fix” and anyone suffering from this pain is best off seeing a medical professional first.
The acid from biting into lemons could also affect dental health.
She said: “If I did it all the time, it would hurt my teeth.
“I recommend brushing really well with a toothpaste that will boost enamel health.
“If you're experiencing severe migraines, see a doctor.
“Lemons are a temporary fix.
“I'm not a licensed medical professional by any means.
“I’m just lemon girl and hope to pass on some of my limited wisdom.
“Please do not try this trick if you are allergic to citrus or if you have tummy issues.”
The video, shared to TikTok has received 2.6 million likes and is captioned: “Idk how I thought this would help the first time but funnily enough it takes it all away.” [sic]
In the clip, Cass can be seen eating a lemon and squinting her eyes as she bites into the slices.
The video has 20,600 comments from users.
One person said: “Us migraine sufferers come up with the weirdest at-home remedies.”
Kyler added: “You can eat with a migraine? I can barely move without throwing up.”
Nicole wrote: “That's such a migraine thing to try.”
Bronwyn commented: “Anyone wondering why the hell you would do that to stop a migraine has never had a migraine.”
“Gonna try this next time I have a migraine,” Nebra said.
“Only a true migraine sufferer would go this route. I once wrapped my head in a towel and sniffed ginger,” added Christa.
“I’m about to go look for a lemon,” said one user.
“I will be trying this thank you, I love lemons and have chronic migraines,” Hannah said.
