"China has tremendous importance in the Olympic movement. And we have seen there is an ever-growing commitment of China and the Chinese people to the Olympic Games and the Olympic movement. We could see this, the full scale, the first time, with the unforgettable Olympic Games Beijing 2008. The Asian Games in Guangzhou was a great success and many other events. And now there was a truly exceptional Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, bringing the Olympic Winter Games to new heights, with regard to participation and making more than 300 million Chinese people familiar with winter sports. This is unique. And in many international federations, China is playing an ever-growing and more important role. And this is greatly appreciated because we see overall, a shift in the world towards Asia in sport. And this is why we appreciate our closer partnership with China in the field of sports so much."
