Passing Three Dangerous Rapids on the Mamberamo River, Papua
The Marinavalen, Edivalen and Batavia rapids on the Mamberamo River are three rapids that are very popular among residents of Mamberamo Raya, a district in Papua Province, Indonesia.
The Three Rapids are phenomenal, because many people have been injured and died in this place.
On my trip at the end of July 2023 in Hulu Mamberamo, I passed these three rapids and felt their turmoil. It's very worrying indeed. Therefore, it is highly recommended to check the boat, engine and fuel regularly and also ensure that you use a driver who is familiar with the terrain, in order to ensure safety.
