A monkey appeared to tease its fellow primates after it managed to escape from an enclosure at Wuhan Zoo in Hubei Province.

Footage from October 4 shows the golden snub-nosed monkey in a tree outside its enclosure as dozens of zoogoers watch on from below.

The monkey then jumped onto the roof of its enclosure and interacted with the primates that were still inside, appearing to tease them.

According to witnesses, zookeepers were afraid the animal would hurt someone so they eventually shot it with a tranquillizer gun and recaptured it.

The golden snub-nosed monkey is listed as "endangered" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature

On October 4, in Wuhan, Hubei Province, a golden monkey escaped from the zoo through a loophole in the top of the protective net.

The golden monkey did not go far after running out. It first stopped to rest on a nearby tree, and then interacted with its companions through the protective net.

According to eyewitnesses, zoo staff were afraid that it would hurt someone, so they eventually shot it with a tranquilizer gun and captured it.
