A cheeky stray cat took over a dog's bed and stole its dinner in eastern China.

The funny video was filmed in the city of Weihai in Shandong Province on October 5.

The dog rushed to greet its owner, Yu, as if pleading for some backup. As a stray cat had taken full reign of the canine's personal space.

Yu was heard laughing and saying to his dog: "are you afraid of driving it (the cat) away?"

It emerged that this poor pup had endured a cold night under the stars, all because he was too petrified to reclaim his territory from the audacious feline.

Finally, under the protective gaze of its owner, the brave dog summoned up the nerve to evict the furry gatecrasher, much to the amusement of Yu who couldn't help but chuckle at his pet's previous hesitancy.

The video showed the dog standing in the yard with a visibly aggravated expression, immediately welcoming its owner, Yu, for help on seeing him, as a stray cat unceremoniously took over his litter and feasted on his food. The owner then realized the dog had spent a chilly night outside due to fear of the cat.

In the end, under the protection of its owner, the dog managed to pluck up the courage to let the unwanted guest out of the yard, prompting the owner to laugh at its timidity.
