STORYLINE:

The Egyptian Red Crescent Society's executive director Rami Al-Nazer announced on Saturday the arrival of 84 trucks of food, humanitarian and medical aid belonging to the Egyptian Red Crescent to the Gaza Strip.

"I would like to thank the Egyptian state's efforts, represented in all the state agencies, which help us around the clock with the aim of sending the aid. Our last contact with the Palestine Red Crescent Society was yesterday regarding learning about the priorities of aid, but the communication was cut off as we can't know up till the moment what is happening on the ground on the side of the Palestine Red Crescent Society to know their needs which we were preparing every day upon the communication with the other party."

Hossam Elsharkawi, regional director of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) for the Middle East and North Africa, called on the world to play its role in helping the Gaza Strip by sending it the necessary aid and thanked the Egyptian efforts in sending the aid.

"I plead with the whole world, either politicians or diplomats, to do their part stopping the war and dispute, in order to reach a cease-fire deal for the continuation of the humanitarian operation."
