Tourists fed migratory seagulls that had flown to tropical Thailand to enjoy warmer climes for winter.

Footage shows visitors standing on a walkway along the Bang Pu Recreation Centre in Samut Prakan province to feed the flocks of birds swooping down on the waters.

Locals visit the tourist spot, popular because of its proximity to the capital Bangkok, every year to witness the influx of seagulls escaping from the freezing winters of the northern regions of Europe, Siberia, Russia and China.

The surrounding mangroves rich in food have made it a favourite stopover for the seagulls, which swarm the area from around October to April.

Tourists can buy food to feed the birds on the spot, with prices ranging from 10 to 50 THB per bag. They can also dine at seafood restaurants while enjoying the breathtaking sunset.
