A boyfriend pretended to be injured before pulling a surprise marriage proposal to his girlfriend.

Engineer Juvyl Ihong, 30, covered his left foot with fake blood and bandages at a construction before asking his now-wife Lumen Cristy Recla, 28, to come urgently.

Footage shows Juvyl sitting on a bench while Lumen cleaned his pretend wound before their friends emerged from the windows of the unfinished building with balloons in Iloilo City, the Philippines.

Juvyl pointed to the balloons spelled out as ‘Will you marry me' in bold letters, and the emotional Lumen appeared to be caught off guard.

Juvyl said: ‘I had the idea when I was assigned as a civil engineer at the city at that time. The pandemic had kept us apart, and when the restrictions were eased, I thought I should grab the chance.'

The engineer pulled out a box with a ring and knelt while she held the bouquet of flowers from him.
