A camp football referee became a hit with his exaggerated gestures during a game in Thailand.

Narit Numchao, known to players as Sergeant Nut, was officiating the university match between pupils in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand, on October 31.

Footage shows him walking erect along the touchline while flaying his wrists. He then blew his whistle before flouncing over to players and gesturing for them to cool down.

Onlooker Nattapong Areekit said the ref was the star of the 2nd Montree Cup.

He added: 'Everyone loved his girlish style.'

Openly gay Narit said his mannerisms were 'part of his character'.

He said: 'I love football and being a referee. This is just my style and who I am. I am like this all the time, but especially when I'm interacting with handsome young footballers.

'I'm an LGBT person and I'm fine with that. People enjoy watching me. I hope there are more LGBT people like me in football who feel comfortable to show off their mannerisms.'
