Furious locals have vented their anger at the controversial ULEZ charge by sticking sex toys to a mobile camera van.

Laurie Bishop, 36, from action group ULEZ Van Blockers, said he’d fixed a dildo to the van to tell London Mayor Sadiq Khan to go "f*** himself"."

The clean air scheme, which covers Greater London, requires motorists with some of the most polluting vehicles to pay a £12.50 charge to travel in and out of the city.

But hacked off Laurie said motorists had been left "terrified" by the payments, which are being enforced with the use of vans carrying number plate recognition cameras."

So when he learned of a van's location, in Bexley, South London, on Monday (Nov 20) he picketed it with four protesters, before plastering it with sex toys.

Laurie said: "We were there protesting for the day as Khan had sent this van into the local town, so we thought we’d send a message back at him with this Dildo - to ‘F’ himself."

"We want it stopped. We have had enough. This is one step too far. We are just not having it. It’s unfair. People are terrified. It’s a joke. "

"People are out every day blocking the cameras. "

"The fixed ones are being destroyed or stickered on a daily basis. Then we have the mobile protests, blocking them. It’s a bit of a joint effort."

"But you’ve got to be careful what you do. You don’t want to break the law. The dildo has a suction cup on it, so it doesn’t cause any damage."

Laurie, a sign installer from Eltham, South East London, found out the location of the camera van after it was posted on the ULEZ Mobile Van Locations Facebook page.

And members of the group ULEZ Van Blockers then assembled beside it where they put up a sign in front of its camera to notify other motorists of its whereabouts.

But Laurie said he’d then taken the protest one step further by attaching a fake phallus to the side of the van – including on its camera.

And hilarious footage then showed the van being driven around the local roads with its occupants seemingly obvious about the appendage fixed to their vehicle.

Laurie admitted: "That was me [who fixed the dildo on the van]. "

"I just thought the vans are being sent into our town to F*** the locals, especially the old people that can’t afford to buy new vehicles. "

"They didn’t realise at first. They have a support car that would be following us usually. "

"We they went off and the dildo was already on the camera. The support car was in front. So they didn’t see it when they pulled off."

"After a couple of miles, the support car managed to get behind the ULEZ van. Then they knew it was there."

"It went up Cray Road all the way up to Bexley Village. It went around the roundabout then drove back."

Social media users who spotted the hilarious protest on Facebook were quick to see the funny side.

One wrote: "The camera attackers have brilliant humour."

Another added: "That has to be the funniest thing I’ve seen!"

A third said: "Love it, it's the funniest thing I have seen for a while. Well done whoever put it there."
