Unexpected Encounter: Wild Peregrine Falcon Flies into Passing Woman's Hand in Southern China
On November 26, 2023, in Shangrao, Jiangxi, a dazed peregrine falcon unexpectedly landed next to a young woman and was caught in her agile hands.
In the video, the peregrine falcon was calmly held in the woman's hand, with its claws curled up, showing no resistance at all. Seeing the peregrine falcon staring at her with a pair of cute-looking round eyes, the woman couldn't help but call it a "silly bird". Eventually, at the woman's urging, the peregrine falcon flew away from her hand, as unsuspecting as its approach.
As the filmer described it, the peregrine falcon flew over to her as she was going downstairs to take out the trash, and appeared to be trying to get close to her. It then stopped on her shoulder and defenselessly allowed the woman to take it in her hand.
She speculated that the peregrine falcon had perhaps been kept as a pet, which was why it wasn't aggressive toward people.
Chinese netizens kindly pointed out that the peregrine falcon is a second-class national protected animal in China, and has almost the top speed in birds. Someone therefore humorously commented on this incredible encounter saying, "Neither side has a clear idea of their strength."
