This is the biggest hydropower project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework. Suki Kinari, like all other CPEC projects, pays a lot of emphasis on corporate social responsibility and the socio-economic development of the local area."

The hydropower project, implemented by
China Gezhouba Group Corporation (CGGC),
started construction in January 2017

"For the local community, CGGC (China Gezhouba Group Corporation) has arranged medical camps every year, providing free medicines to the local community. We have arranged some events in the schools, for the local schools. We have provided copies, books, stationeries, bags for the orphan houses in the local community.
We have made access roads for the project, which the local communities are benefiting from, and we have built seven Bailey bridges across the river, (which) made accessibility for the local community more convenient."

During last year's unprecedented floods, the Chinese company has repaired the damaged roads and also the damaged bridges using their high-tech machinery.
Most importantly, once put into operation, this project is going to generate 3.212 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, which would significantly help Pakistan in mitigating its power crisis."

The project will reduce 2.52 million

It is expected to significantly optimize Pakistan's energy structure,
boosting the country's economic and social development
