Texas Police were enchanted by a pretty little bird that landed on the wing mirror of their police car.

Video shows the adorable Ruby-crowned kinglet, with a tuft of scarlet feathers that looked like a red mohawk on its head, landing on top of the side mirror, then leaping down to the window to stare at its reflection, to the delight of the police officers watching.

Cops recorded the video of the incident involving the bird and the patrol car in the city of Fulshear, Texas, on December 11.

The department said in a statement: 'Did our K-9 Unit just have a Disney moment, or is this little one trying to release K-9 Blu?'

The Ruby-crowned kinglet is one of the smallest songbirds in North America and with its bright ruby-red crest. It manages to emit loud birdsong despite its tiny frame.

The males are distinct from the females because of their bright red crest which they can often keep hidden.
