This footage was filmed and produced 29 November 2023.

On the 29th of December, the dedicated volunteer lifeboat crew of Howth RNLI sprang into action to rescue a yacht in distress off the north Dublin coast. The Coast Guard received a call from the yacht, positioned south of Lambay Island, reporting difficulties in challenging sea conditions with winds reaching force 5 to 6, and gusting force 7.

Responding promptly to the distress call, the Howth RNLI crew launched their All-Weather Lifeboat, the Roy Barker III, within ten minutes of the initial alert. On scene in fifteen minutes, the coxswain assessed the situation and decided to transfer a crew member onto the yacht. Confirming the occupants were wet and cold but unharmed, the decision was made to tow the yacht to safety in Howth harbour.

Despite challenging winds and sea conditions, the lifeboat crew successfully towed the yacht back to port, concluding the mission by 13:40. Howth RNLI Second Coxswain Ian Sheridan commended the yacht's crew for calling for help in a timely manner, emphasizing the importance of prompt response in adverse weather.
