Couple survives empty roller coaster car crashing into the back of them on ride
The bizarre video shows a couple surviving a roller coaster accident when an empty carriage kept crashing into the back of their own throughout the whole ride.
Smartphone footage recorded by the pair showed the empty carriage repeatedly hitting the back of their open-topped car on December 25.
The incident happened at Nantian Lake in Fengdu Ghost City, a famous ghost culture tourist attraction in Chongqing municipality, China, where the couple went to celebrate their anniversary.
The woman, 24, said: 'It was me and my boyfriend's eighth anniversary and we went to the Nantian Lake to celebrate.
'We played in the snow and decided to ride a roller coaster when it turned out that an empty car was released behind us due to a possible staff error.
'At first it felt pretty exciting, but during the second part of our journey, we were scared to death.
'There was nobody around when the incident happened, it was just us and the empty car chasing after us.
'We were going down the mountain very fast, and we were afraid of being hit and veering off tracks. I was so nervous.
'I thought about all the bad things that could have happened during the second half of the ride. I was really scared.
'After the car arrived at the base, we talked to the employees, hoping they could give us an explanation.
'But they just said they would let us ride again for free. I was shocked and angry at the time. Who would want to have this kind of experience again?'
The young woman warned others that they might face a similar incident in case they decide to take the same ride.
Two days later, the amusement park officials said that the empty cars were set on the track to pick up tourists from the bottom of the mountain.
They added that the equipment was inspected regularly and was safe to use.
