Female passenger kicked off train for ‘pulling emergency lever’ when men entered women-only carriage
A passenger was kicked off from a train after pulling the emergency lever when men entered a women-only carriage in Mexico.
The female commuter reportedly became agitated when the cab was opened for mixed use due to heavy passenger demand on the Monterrey Metro.
She allegedly demanded that a group of men, believed to be Rayados football fans, leave the vehicle usually reserved for women before activating the emergency stop, bringing the train to a halt.
Footage captures the heated confrontation between the furious passenger and other travellers, including other ladies, while staff attempted to calm the situation.
Shortly afterwards, two women forcibly removed her from the train on October 18, prompting cheers and laughter from the crowd as she was ejected.
The Metrorrey public transport authority clarified that it had previously announced all carriages would be mixed-use on that day.
Officials also explained that it is common practice for all carriages to be mixed during large-scale events, such as football matches, to provide quicker service for commuters.
Segregated carriages, such as those reserved for women during regular service hours, are designed to offer a safer and more comfortable environment for female passengers. These measures aim to reduce harassment and enhance security on public transport.
