These two wild macaques captured tourists' hearts as they shared a kiss on a cold day.

The pair of affectionate monkeys were filmed by an unnamed visitor during a trip to Emei Mountain, near the city of Leshan, in Sichuan province, south-western China, on December 31.

Several tourists had gathered beside a wooden fence taking videos of two macaques that were on the railings.

To their surprise and amusement, the larger monkey suddenly approached the smaller one and unexpectedly grabbed its chin and moved in for a smooch.

The delighted crowd began shouting and cheering, causing the shy monkeys to separate in the fuss.

The macaque is a type of Old World monkey belonging to the genus Macaca. They are social primates are characterised by their long tails, often inquisitive nature, and distinctive facial features.

Macaques have a wide geographic distribution and inhabit various habitats, including forests, grasslands, and urban areas.
