A Russian plane bound for Moscow crashed into the mountainside in northern Afghanistan.

The Dassault Falcon 10 registered RA-09011 was carrying six people on a medical evacuation from Pattaya, Thailand, when it disappeared from radar screens on January 20.

Afghanistan's Taliban-run Ministry of Transport and Aviation said the missing aircraft was found in the mountains of Badakhshan province on January 21.

Four survivors, including the pilot, were rescued, while the condition of two other people was still unclear.

Russian aviation authority Rosaviatsia said the plane had left the Utapao Airport in eastern Thailand and made stops at India and Uzbekistan.

Russian media reported that the pilot warned he was low on fuel and would try to land at an airport in Tajikistan before the plane disappeared.

Russian media reported that a Russian woman 'in serious condition' was being transported with other Russian nationals on the private flight.

Afghan officials said a technical team was investigating the crash.
