Snow-triggered multi-car pile-up leaves dozens injured on Chinese expressway
Snow-triggered multi-car pile-up left dozens injured on an expressway in southwest China.
The dramatic video was filmed in Tongren City in Guizhou Province on January 22.
According to an eyewitness driver, the accident happened on a downhill stretch under an overpass, where the road was covered in snow. The chain-reaction crash began when several vehicles collided, and following cars were unable to stop in time, leading to a pile-up.
As car doors jammed, passengers and drivers were forced to escape through shattered windshields and windows.
Hospital staff attending to the injured reported multiple casualties were brought in for treatment, primarily in the orthopedics department.
Fortunately, none of the injuries were life-threatening.
By the evening of January 23, the Tongren Highway Patrol responded, stating that the accident site had been cleared. The expressway section where the incident occurred was temporarily controlled due to weather conditions, indicating a proactive measure to prevent further accidents.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
