Between December 30, 2023, and January 1, 2024, a series of burglaries struck multiple local businesses specializing in video gaming equipment and software. The culprits, following a nearly identical pattern, used stolen vehicles to crash through the front doors, entered on foot with disguises to conceal their identities, and swiftly made off with valuable gaming equipment before making their escape.

Responding promptly, JSO detectives orchestrated a targeted operation, resulting in the arrest of five juvenile offenders aged between 13 and 17. The stolen property from these incidents amounted to over $8,000, with the businesses facing an additional $50,000 in repair costs.

Sheriff Waters, in response to the arrests, expressed concern about the national trend of using cars to breach businesses during burglaries, often learned through online platforms.
