Chinese farm transforms swine into 'party pigs' with dance music for better meat quality
A farm transformed swine into "party pigs" with dance music for better meat quality in southern China.
The funny video was filmed in the city of Nanning in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on January 29.
The farm has adopted the practice of playing upbeat dance music in the pig pens, transforming the porcine residents into what has been affectionately dubbed "party pigs."
The farmer, Mr. Fu, insists that the music keeps the pigs in high spirits, leading to increased food consumption, enhanced physical activity, and vitality, and even reducing the likelihood of illness.
The musical diet, according to Mr. Fu, not only keeps the pigs happier but also results in firmer, tastier meat.
In a fascinating insight into the impact of music on livestock, Mr. Fu notes that different genres elicit varied reactions from the pigs, who seem to be quite "cooperative" with the musical experiment. He reassures that while the music boosts the pigs' energy, it doesn't lead to weight loss.
The concept has garnered support from animal husbandry experts, including Li Xinjian, who affirms that playing music for pigs can be considered a form of welfare-oriented farming.
This practice, Li explains, can soothe the animals and reduce stress. He underscores that stress in pigs can adversely affect the quality of their meat, suggesting that this musical rearing method could indeed have a positive effect on meat quality.
