STORYLINE:

During the past years, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has been improving contracted family doctor services to relocate more resources to grassroots health institutions, offering the public more equitable access to basic medical services.

In Tacheng City, about 1,020 family-doctor teams have provided medical and health services, including long-term prescription and on-site services.

"It's very convenient for us to use the family-doctor service system. There are two elderly people in my family. The village doctors come regularly to offer free services, such as blood pressure and blood sugar measurement, as well as medication guidance. So I am very grateful to these doctors."
