Devotees celebrate birthday of the Hindu idol Ganesha
Devotees celebrated the birthday of the Hindu idol Ganesha in Thailand.
Footage shows religious followers gathered outside the shrine in Bangkok, Thailand on February 13.
Some of them brought roses and burned incense at the shrine while praying to sculptures and images of the Hindu elephant god.
Ganesha is one of the most popular and revered deities in the Hindu religion. He has the head of an elephant and a human body, depicting wisdom, understanding, and a discriminating intellect.
Hinduism in Thailand has its roots in the Khmer Empire, which at its peak covered a large part of Southeast Asia before its collapse.
Many Thais still highly revere the Khmer civilisation for its superior temples, language and culture.
