Superstitious Thai singles flocked to a Hindu shrine to pray for a lover on Valentine's Day.

Hopeful devotees marked Valentine's Day by offering pink lotus flowers, sugar cane juice, and various fruits to the Hindu goddess Lakshmi at the Gaysorn Plaza in Bangkok, Thailand, on February 14.

By leaving behind such offerings, they said they hoped to find their soulmate.

Speaking in the video, Nong said she had visited the shrine to pray for a boyfriend.

She said: 'Today is Valentine's Day, and I saw many great reviews about this shrine. The feedback made me want to come here at least once.

'I prayed to find a kind boyfriend and to have a good relationship. If my wish comes true, I will return and offer nine large lotus bouquets.'

The Christian celebration of Valentine's Day has been a commercial success in the culturally flexible Southeast Asian country.
