Dozens were rescued from,a ferry that ran aground when was pushed by waves to shore after engine failure.

Footage shows passengers wearing orange vests being evacuated from the vessel M/V Reina Hosanna in Northern Samar province, the Philippines, on February 12.

A total of 95 passengers were trapped in the distressed boat when it had an engine failure and was forced by strong winds and currents to the shoreline in Capul town the night before the rescue on February 11.

Another vessel, MV Reina Immaculada, tried to tow Reina Hosanna but failed when the mooring line tore.

Local official Jennel Calamay-Abbang said: ‘The 28 crew members, including the ship captain, remained in our evacuation centre to help secure rolling cargo and the ship.'

The stranded passengers were given meals and transportation assistance to leave the island safely while the crew helped secure the ship's cars, trucks, and trailers.
