This is the dramatic moment a crocodile chasing a goat was caught and tied up in a village in India.

Young boys discovered the hoofed animal, pursued by the predator, trapped in a 10ft borewell in Etah, Uttar Pradesh.

They recalled seeing the reptile lounging nearby inside the hole when they went down the pit to rescue the hapless caprine on August 9.

One of the youngsters said: 'We ran out after seeing the crocodile and called nearby men for help.'

Footage shows the juvenile crocodile wriggling uncontrollably on the ground, its mouth tightly bound with rope in an attempt to escape.

Moments later, three teenagers rode closely together on a motorbike, carrying the crocodile on the pillion seat to the Kali River, where it was released back into the water.

No injuries were reported from the encounter.
