An out-of-control pickup truck crashed into a roadside stall and almost hit the customers.

CCTV footage shows the grey vehicle crashing through the motorcycles beside the tables and chairs of the repair shop in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, Thailand on February 9.

A woman who was sitting on a motorcycle and a man behind her quickly fled when they saw the car heading towards them.

No one was hurt, including the driver, who reportedly drove at a speed of more than 100km/h.

Shop owner Jirathanat Srinarat said: 'The driver said he was sick. The car insurance was still inspecting the damage.'

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
