Wildlife officials rescued a leopard after it got its head stuck inside a metal vessel in Dhule, Maharashtra, on March 1.

The wild animal was found lying inside a cowshed with a metal container tightly fixed around its head.

Due to a lack of oxygen, the leopard was exhausted so the wildlife team were able to sedate it before golding it down and carefully saw the container open.

Once freed, the leopard was put into a cage where it was then released back into the wild.

In a timely operation, a leopard was rescued by officials of the forest department after its head was stuck inside of a vessel in western India's Maharashtra.

This incident happened at the Ghuksevad village in Dhule district of the state on the night of February 29- March 1.

Visuals showed the creature stuck inside of a metal vessel. The big cat laid on one side of the cowshed and seemingly was exhausted due to a lack of oxygen supply. Later, forest department officials arrived at the spot and one man was seen sawing open the vessel to free the leopard. Officials held on to the leopard's limbs as the vessel was being cut open. The leopard was then put in a cage after being freed from the vessel. It later was released and was seen jumping out of the vehicle it was being carried in and disappearing into the wild.


According to a report, the leopard strayed into the cowshed belonging to a man named Krushna Chaure in search of food and water. In an attempt to drink water from the metal vessel, its head was stuck. After a while of trying to free itself from the metal pot, the leopard became exasperated and tired. After receiving information about this leopard, Range Forest Officer Savita Sonawane, the field staff and veterinary doctors rushed to the spot. The leopard was sedated with an injection before the vessel was cut open. The wild animal was later taken to the forest department office and later released after being kept on observation.
