A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead at a house in a leafy village.



Emergency services were called to a property on The Coppice, in Burbage, Leics., at around 11.20am on Sunday morning (3/3).

Despite the efforts of paramedics, a woman, aged in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on the quaint cul-de-sac, where properties can sell for between £430,000-650,000.

He remains in police custody being quizzed by cops while forensic examinations continue at the scene.

Leicestershire Police said formal identification has not yet taken place and a post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course.

Detective Inspector Mark Parish, from East Midlands Special Operation Unit (EMSOU), said: "Officers will remain at the scene as our investigation progresses, and we continue to investigate the full circumstances of what happened."

"I appreciate that the nature of the incident may cause some concern among residents in the area. "

"However, I would like to reassure them that this is an isolated incident, and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident."
