This is the incredible moment a pilot filmed a rare weather phenomenon that looked like it was from a Marvel film.

Alexander Torres was on a night flight over the Bay of Bengal in February when he spotted a blue jet burst into the pitch black sky.

In amazing footage – which has been viewed more than 11million times – shows a massive lightning storm crack under a cloud.

From the top of the cloud a blue beam shoots towards the sky followed by an orange burst, leading some viewers to compare it to the Bifrost from the Thor films.

Alexander said: “Initially, I didn’t know what it was. I have been a pilot for 10 years and this was my first time seeing something like this, and it occurred during a significant storm.

“We were flying at a high altitude of 43,000 feet.

“Prior to this experience, I had never encountered anything quite like it. The spectacle left us all amazed, yet we remained cautious, altering our course to avoid the severe weather.”
