This is the heartwarming moment blind schoolchildren visited a forest for the first time in Thailand.

Pupils from the Makutkiriwan School for the Blind (Khao Yai) ventured out of their classrooms and into the Khao Yai National Park for an annual outdoor field trip on March 12.

With the guidance of park rangers, teachers, and other students from the Baan Klong Duea School, the kids trekked through the UNESCO World Heritage site and experienced nature firsthand.

Litthichai Kengsungnern, president of the Hug Khaoyai Club, said the trip was organised in collaboration with the Khao Yai Tourism Association, restaurant operators in Pak Chong, and local nature conservation groups.

He said: 'This activity is an opportunity for the students to go hiking and study nature at the Khao Yai World Heritage Forest. It is a good way to instill them with a sense of responsibility for other people.

'We hope that the trip fosters awareness and appreciation for nature, and inspires the younger generation to have a conservational mindset.

'This is the seventh year that this event has been held. For the blind kids, this is the second year we've taken them to explore the Khao Yai forest.'

Khao Yai National Park in Thailand's Nakhon Ratchasima province is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its lush forests, diverse wildlife, and stunning waterfalls.

Covering over 2,000 square kilometers, it is one of the largest and oldest national parks in the country, where visitors can admire nature and engage in outdoor activities such as hiking and wildlife spotting.
