British-Hongkongers demonstrated outside the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) on the day Article 23, an expansion of the 2019 national security law was enacted (March 23).

Benedict Rogers and exiled dissident Finn Lau were amongst speakers who called for sanctions against the Hong Kong government.

Under this legislation, individuals may be detained for 16 days without charge, with no access to a lawyer, and permits closed-door trials, where a sentence of life-imprisonment can be handed down by a judge without a jury being present.

Hundreds marched from the government building to the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office.
