"Flower-shaped wind turbines, solar panels on both rooftops and ground, and even zero-carbon coffee...Green practices are almost everywhere in an almost zero emissions demonstration zone in Boao, a coastal town in China's southernmost province of Hainan. This year's Boao Forum for Asia has become greener with green energy, green transportation, green products and green recycling. Join us to discover how the green and low-carbon lifestyle here pilots China's green development."

Covering an area of around 1.9 square kilometers, the demonstration zone makes good use of local wind, sunshine and heat resources.

"We have installed a total of 195 charging piles in 6 parking lots on the island. Our charging piles mainly rely on electricity generated by photovoltaic panels, with sunlight converted into electricity, and then electricity is supplied to the charging piles, which ensures the provision of green electricity."

"Generated by green electricity, robot-made coffee for event participants is a zero-carbon product. And its cup is also recyclable."

"The reuse of waste materials is in itself a carbon reduction practice. You can see that the gabions under those benches and chairs are also a form of reusing waste materials. On the one hand, we can reduce the carbon emissions generated during waste disposal. On the other hand, we can also reduce the emissions in making new construction materials. It's a reflection of the recycling, energy-saving and carbon-reducing concept."
