11/09/2023 06:43 pm (GMT-0800) | NORTH HILLS – A motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run traffic collision Thursday evening.

The incident occurred on Woodley Avenue just south of Parthenia, according to Sgt. John Matassa with LAPD's Valley Traffic Division.

The motorcyclist was exiting a parking lot onto Woodley Avenue when he was struck by a white BMW traveling at a high rate of speed which pushed the motorcyclist into a parked vehicle on Woodley, said Matassa.

The driver of the BMW then collided with parked cars further south on Woodley before they fled on foot. According to Matassa, the driver was "significantly over the speed limit."

A passenger was left behind in the BMW when the driver fled the scene, according to a Saturday LAPD news release of the incident.

Matassa confirmed the motorcyclist was a male, but has not been identified until the family is notified of his death. In an update by the LAPD, the victim was in his late 50's.

Alcohol and speed are possible factors in this collision.

There is no suspect description at this time. LAPD's Valley Traffic Collision is handling the investigation.
