Dark clouds and thunderstorms transformed day into night, effectively turning the morning commute into an evening-like traffic nightmare in southern China.

The video was filmed in Changsha City in Hunan Province on April 16.

The overlap of peak rain and rush hour severely disrupted traffic in urban areas. Dim daylight impaired visibility for drivers, while various roads in the Xiangjiang New District and Furong District were flooded to varying degrees, causing a spike in congestion and accident alerts.

In response, Changsha's traffic police initiated a Level 3 emergency plan, deploying 80% of its forces to patrol the roads, particularly targeting 162 flood-prone areas previously identified across the city.

对此，长沙交警部门提前启动三级响应充足准备，80%警力在岗上路，同时加强了此前收集了全市162处易积水路段低洼路段的巡查力度，及时处置突发状况并予以上报。未来几天内雨水仍将继续，交警提醒广大市民，尽量减少雨天行车，驾驶中降低车速，保持安全车距。
