Power lines explode above cars during storm in Thailand
Power lines exploded above cars during a tropical storm in southern Thailand on Sunday.
Dashcam footage from a car waiting at a set of traffic lights shows the gusts and driving rain suddenly pick up in Hat Yai, Songkhla, on May 5.
A tree was uprooted, dragging down electricity lines that exploded in a hail of sparks. Motorists scrambled to avoid the hazard.
Officials said they were clearing away debris from the storm. There were no injuries reported.
The Meteorological Department of Thailand (TMD) warned that the country's annual rainy season was approaching, which sees regular violent downpours until November.
